Dr. Hinton is a Senior Advisor at Planet One Group. At Planet One, he is working with financial institutions and impact investors to increase the access of finance for social impact projects in developing countries, in a manner that results in improved learning outcomes. His PhD area of research at Oxford was 'The financing of low-cost, non-state schools in Africa’. He has over 25 years of commercial experience in Africa, S E Asia and Europe investing in and transforming financial institutions, banks, fair-trade and not-for profit organisations. During his career, Dr. Hinton held key positions in Enterprise Banking Group (Botswana), BancABC, UK's Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC), Africa Trading and Mazars. Dr Hinton teaches at the University of Oxford’s Impact Investment Programme, the Oxford Social Finance Programme and MBA programme at Saïd Business School. He also works with various charitable trusts that promotes rural livelihoods, runs schools in refugee settlement areas and gives scholarships to African tertiary students.
